Why artists are essential to America…

My breath was taken away by the words of Arlene Goldbard! She clearly identifies the power of the arts to develop awareness, imagination and empathy.

Nina - Well. More fuel for the fire. Now we have to ALL in our own everyday ways take this preaching to the choir and spread the Word to those outside the choir. Mindful that is our own Artistic Motions and beliefs that “spread the Word”. Thanks, Beth.

How an image can change your life journey

Learning how to image or hold an image in my imagination is essential. When I allow myself to hold an image in my mind and to value its presence, I have an extraordinary fluid medium to work with !

Nina - I RECOGNIZE THAT GARDEN! AND THAT BELIEVE!!! YOU HAVE CONVERTED ME. THANK YOU! :)

Evidence of things not seen

What I did rediscover, as I reflected, is that I must create! It is as necessary to me as eating and sleeping. It is my way of sharing what is not not seen: of digging away at what is not understood; of researching using visual tools and gut level intuition. Why is this so important to me?…

How to increase your observation skill in 6 steps

admin - Hi, Fil,

Thank you for your question!
The artwork displayed in this post by Williams Kentridge is a 1998 charcoal self-portrait from the MoMa sow in 2010. The video I mentioned can be found at http://www.moma.org/explore/multimedia/videos/95 and is called “The artist responds to a question about whether art c”an change the world.” He remarks, “I believe that in the indeterminacy of drawing- the contingent way that images arrive in the work-lies some kind of model of how we live our lives. The activity of drawing is a way of trying to understand who we are and how we operate in the world.”
I love the way he articulates his thoughts about drawing, don’t you? And I do agree with his statement that the action of drawing helps us to understand who we are and how we live!

Fil - what is the name of the William Kentridge example provided

chironarts - It’s So amazing how spouses can just walk in with the right amount of influence! Bravo. So interesting how my perception changes as I change.
