bethvw - It IS funny! Creative decisions are so interwoven into our daily activities that we are not even aware of how much impact those decisions have on our actual life. Each time we make a “mark” or decision we are revealing a part of our inner self!
What have you been working on lately? It was so good to see you at Jerelyn’s Atelier. Let me know when you have another exhibit!

Laurette Kovary - Sort of funny when I think about it – when the kids and adults in my art classes I was instructing would claim they dont or cant make creative choices I remember telling them that of course they make creative choices everyday … “you get dressed dont you?”.

chironarts - Communicating with my children – and all their individual intricacies! LOL

Imagine your life…now live what you've imagined.

Act as if. It is very effective

beth - @ Nina , Ooh I’m so glad you stopped in! What are you imagining lately?

@Fred I have trouble imagining that. You are doing this all tonight? Let me know how it is working for you. As I wrote this I was thinking about that experiment with the fly in the glass jar. You put plastic wrap over the top opening and after bumping his head enough, the fly doesn’t go near the top any more. After you remove the plastic wrap, he doesn’t understand that he can get out! Sometimes I think that is what we do to ourselves. We are so used to living with a certain set of limitations that we do not see opportunities when they present themselves. let me know how it goes with acting as if…

fred - Hey Beth
Great ideas. At first I thought I would start tomorrow. But how typical that would be of me. I am going to put some of your ideas into action tonight. Thanks!
Fred

Nina - FABULOUS!!!!

Where do we get new ideas?

As I work in my studio, I have begun to list all of the ideas that waft through my mind when I am just waking in the morning, walking, participating in a conversation, and reflecting…

Karen Renna - You and I spoke yesterday about Ms Lieu’s work and i was intrigued as you know, especially by her use of all the values. I would love to see some of her work up close, see how the light responds to it and through it. the funny thing is that today in class with my students I was looking at Escher’s and Homer’s woodcuts and wood engravings and of course Whistler’s rich subtle textural use of grays and mid range values. It is finding the beauty in the values between the extremes that excites me right now. It is like finding the worlds in between moments of time, like whispers of dreams or memories that i am trying to hold onto.

claralieu - Dear Beth,
Thanks for your kind words regarding my blog, I very much appreciate it. I like Twylla Tharp’s method for collecting idea; it’s simple, direct, and very manageable at the same time. Thanks for sharing!

Best,
Clara Lieu

Life as art…a balancing act

The materials that I build my life with are artwork, spiritual growth, physical needs, intellectual development, relationships, environment (surroundings) and riches (both financial and other).

Laura - I really enjoyed the talk by Elizabeth Gilbert–I just realized you have the same name!!–what a wonderful approach. She was naming and transforming rather than avoiding or being pressed down–just great!!!

Nina - I love the placement. Color under our feet !!!

Remembering one moment in time…

late afternoon company It is early on a beautiful rainy day, dark and enveloping, chilly , yet I am fortunate enough to be able to wrap myself in warmth! I face the blank paper and draw out from my mind a memory of yesterday, a reflection on one small moment in time. Its importance lies…

Karen Renna - reflection on a moment,
stay in a moment
catch a moment
hold the moment
breathe through the moment
live the moment
and let it loose
