surrounding myself with trees

Trees are awe inspiring  lately! There is  an arboretum nearby and so I am lucky to have unfettered access to it. Below is larger drawing!  I was looking for relationships between trees and their shadows! As I draw them I take notice!  I pay close attention to  the the wide range of barks and leaves; …

Kathy - Laura sent me to your blog/website—lovely work, well spoken thoughts. I get waylaid by trees, their trunks & branching parts & paint them often. I know the arboretum at Planting Fields well, spent many hours drawing there when my kids were at CSH Lab summer camps.
Keep painting! Your oils show the influence of your watercolor work, lovely fluid layers.

Trisha - I’m all for keeping the trees around…….these drawings are so beautiful, Beth. I’ve always loved trees – especially the old ones – so full of wisdom and you’ve captured them so well here.

Love, Trisha

Carole Freysz Gutierrez - Beth – I love your trees!! You have the talent to capture their nature not only artistically , but also spiritually. Thank you!
Love,
Carole

Beautifully still. Thank you !!! As I am searching for 43 ways to incorporate time into my day, what I love most is Beautful Stillness.
Blessings !

Taking time to wait…

Sally - While waiting for resolution or inspiration I often switch to words – reading or working cryptic crosswords. At other times I leaf through books of quilt patterns, colorful beetles, petrified organic materials, etc with soft music playing.

Painting puts time in a different perspective!

“Try pausing right before and right after undertaking a new action, even something simple like putting a key in a lock to open a door. Such pauses take a brief moment, yet they have the effect of decompressing time and centering you.” A life practice from Br. David Steindl-Rast Drawing & painting does this for…
